Devastated by a daughter's illness...

Can you imagine what it’s like to have a child taken from your family?

That’s the tragedy Eric and his wife faced when their nine-year-old daughter was diagnosed with severe mental health issues and placed in Shodair Children’s Hospital.

“She was gone for months,” Eric says. “It just broke our hearts.”

The loss of their daughter devastated both Eric and his wife. “We were really struggling,” he remembers. “My drinking increased and she became depressed and couldn’t work.”

Life started going downhill “really fast.”

“I tried to go to church every week and bring my family with me, but it seemed the enemy just kind of snuck in, and I stopped going.”

Eventually, Eric stopped drinking and joined a recovery program here in Great Falls. But it was geared toward single men, not those with families. That’s when both he and his wife enrolled in programs here at the Mission. But even though they were married, they were unable to stay together.

That’s why our new Cameron Family Center is so crucial -- it keeps families like Eric’s together!

Today, Eric’s desire is to go into ministry when he graduates from our Christian Discipleship Program.

"At one point in my life I didn't feel I was worthy of anything.  God looked upon me and decided that I was special enough to be a part of His kingdom and a part of His work. God is still working in my heart. He's still working in my life."
